Intraday vs swing analysis: choosing the right evidence
Understand how chart intervals, observation windows and market-data freshness change when comparing intraday and swing workflows in India.
Define the question before opening a chart
Intraday analysis examines a setup within a trading session. Swing analysis studies a possible move across multiple sessions. Neither label describes a guaranteed result. Before comparing scans, write down the intended observation window, the instrument and what you want the analysis to explain. A short-lived intraday observation cannot simply be relabelled as a weekly idea.
Keep candle intervals explicit
A five-minute candle and a daily candle summarise different windows. If an indicator uses a sequence of candles, changing the interval changes the history represented in that calculation. Record the interval and whether the latest candle is complete. Mixing incomplete short-interval bars with completed daily bars can make two otherwise similar charts answer different questions.
Separate current evidence from historical context
A historical series can help explain a trend while still being unsuitable as a current entry price. The latest quote needs its own timestamp and source check. When reviewing a multi-session idea, also consider whether an event occurred after the historical dataset ended. A page load time tells you when the page was opened, not when its underlying market observation occurred.
Keep invalidation and review times consistent
A plan should describe what would make its thesis less credible and when it should be reviewed. Do not extend a plan’s time horizon after an adverse move simply to avoid acknowledging that the original setup changed. Preserve the original reasoning in the journal, then record any new analysis as a separate observation.
Availability inside KAVIX India
KAVIX currently has a supported Intraday workflow. Swing, Weekly, Monthly, Futures and Long-term scanner horizons are in preparation. This guide explains the difference between analysis windows; it does not announce those scanners as released. A higher plan cannot substitute for an unavailable implementation or missing data.
Use a repeatable comparison
For each analysis, record the instrument identifier, interval, source time, trend context, invalidation condition and required risk checks. Compare outcomes only after accounting for the different assumptions. Paper practice can help inspect that process, but it does not reproduce real liquidity, costs or execution.
